Waste Management
Hygiene Pulp products used in the healthcare environments may become contaminated and thus they must be disposed of in a safe manner according to routine infections control practice. The products can be disposed of using one of the following two methods:
Disposable Machine (Macerator) - This is the ideal method of disposal. After usage, the single-use Hygiene Pulp product is placed into the disposal unit and macerated using cold water. The mechanical process allows the 100% biodegradable product to be decomposed safely and efficiently discharged into the sewage system.
Manual Disposal - The product should be disposed of in a clinical way. Used disposable Hygiene Pulp products containing body fluids should be disposed of into the clinical waste bags. For pan liners and bowls used for collecting human waste and washing purpose, the contents should be removed before they are put into the clinical waste bag. The bags are then sent for incineration or land fill decomposition accordingly.
